The Types of Stress
There are three primary types of stress:
Physical Stress
Many types of physical stress can wreak havoc on the body. This type of stress can come from auto or workplace accidents, sports-related injuries, lifting improperly, or slips and falls. Childbirth itself also can cause physical stress on a newborn. Let’s not also forget one of the biggest causes of stress: gravity!
Mental Stress
Mental stress comes in many forms, including but not limited to, financial challenges, work-related deadlines, caring for a parent/loved one who is seriously ill, relationship issues at home or work, death of a loved one, moving, divorce, excessive worrying and concern over social issues, anxiety and depression.
Chemical Stress
Food additives, pesticides, pollution, personal hygiene products, medications. Everything that we use, consume, and breathe in these days has something in it that is not meant for our body. It seems as if we’re bombarded with a host of chemical stressors that can affect our nervous system and overall health.
Chiropractic & Other Natural Approaches
While it’s impossible to eliminate every type of stress, regular chiropractic care may help you better accommodate and adapt to it. Chiropractic is a safe, non-invasive therapy that brings back mobility and health to the spine, which may alleviate stress and help you relax more easily. Other ways to reduce stress include exercising, journaling, getting good sleep, meditating, and more.
